MT 750 is close in spirit to an MT 734, but with a different intent — rather than outright refusing discrepant documents, the examining bank tells the issuing bank exactly what's wrong and asks for authorization to honour the presentation anyway. This gives the applicant a chance to waive minor discrepancies rather than have the whole transaction stall.
Key fields
- 20 — Sender's Reference: Reference for this advice.
- 21 — Documentary Credit Number: The LC the documents were presented under.
- 32a — Amount: The value of the presentation in question.
- 77A — Discrepancies: The list of exactly what doesn't comply.
- 78 — Instructions: The actual request — asking the issuing bank to seek the applicant's waiver and authorize payment despite the discrepancies.
If the issuing bank agrees (after checking with the applicant), it responds with an MT 752 — authorization to go ahead and pay. If not, the documents are treated as refused, much like an MT 734 outcome.
